Summertime wine cocktails are all about chilled mixes that turn down the heat. We love our white wine spritzers and minty takes on the classic, but make them red and suddenly your cocktail (or mocktail) repertoire gets so much larger.
From summer barbecues to sweater weather, a red wine spritz is a delicious way to bridge the seasonal gap. Use non-alcoholic wine as part of your base and it’s even more versatile.

What Makes Our Recipe Different

What’s in a Wine Spritzer?
A wine spritzer is a combo of your favorite wine and bubbles. That’s it! The fizzy part comes from sparkling water, soda water, club soda, or seltzer.
If you like things sweet, some recipes call for lemon-lime sodas like Sprite or ginger ale as your bubbly base, but that adds to your total sugar. The same goes for simple syrups found in some white wine versions.
Classic red wine spritzer recipes are equal parts wine to fizz to dilute their alcohol content. That can depend on the person pouring the summer cocktail and your chosen bottle of wine. Medium- to full-bodied red wines like grenache or merlot are popular options if you go half and half.
What Makes Our Recipe Different
We go beyond simple red wine cocktails to give you bubbles from the wine itself. Our non-alcoholic bubbly red is our favorite red wine. It’s a blend of cabernet and pinot noir for a fruity, approachable wine that adds sangria vibes to our red wine spritz.
Since our take on the best wine spritzer is booze-free, you don’t have to worry about the effects of carbonation in our version.
Fun fact: Bubbles in your alcoholic drinks can make you tipsy faster than other cocktail recipes. Moderating your drinking is still more important overall if you’re watching your alcohol content, but it’s a good thing to know if you want to avoid that hangover.

You won’t find added sugars in our red, but you’ll need to tweak your nutrition facts if you play with garnishes and juice flavors. You can definitely feel good about eating fresh cherries. They’re a good source of potassium and vitamin C on top of the calcium boost from the orange juice.
Serve it With Flair
Mix this fall or summer drink as you go if you’re serving it at a party. A light chill on the wine is best. We love this one in a glass tumbler or your best whisky glasses, but if you’re feeling wine glasses, go for it.
From there, be as creative as you like with your garnishes or other edits, as long as you keep our bubbly red wine as the star.
- Can’t find cherries? Fresh cherries are seasonal. If you can’t get them locally, subtitute with another sweet, tart fruit like raspberries as your garnish.
- Missing cherry juice, too? Cranberry or pomegranate juice are tart enough to offer a similar flavor profile. You’ll keep the bold red color, too.
- Want to impress your friends? Have some fun with fancy ice molds. They’re not just for whisky cocktails anymore.
Ready for your new favorite fizzy red wine?
The best red wine is the one that comes without strings — or hangovers — attached. Treat yourself to a fizzy, cherry jubilee with Surely’s non-alcoholic bubbly red. If you love the utility of canned wines, try our dealcoholized sparkling rosé or non-alcoholic Brut.
